RP-5217 BARCODE SCANNING BEGINS FEBRUARY 1, 2015
We are happy to announce the SaleScan system for scanning pdf created RP-5217 forms is up and running. We will begin using it to scan and transmit all RP-5217 forms immediately, with an official start date of February 1, 2015.
To access the form please go to the RP-5217-PDF homepage:
From this page, you can access instructions, FAQs, filing information, Statutes and General Information, Adobe installation (if needed), and the fill-in PDF RP-5217 form.
The form is located on the main page beneath the APPROVED COUNTIES listing.
Please click on: "Download RP-5217 PDF form" to begin download. Once you have completed the form, please print it and have it signed so you can submit it with your deed filing.
We will not accept ANY completely handwritten RP-5217 forms, or forms not completed through the states PDF download. We will also not accept saved, blank versions of the PDF that are completed on a computer, or printed, blank forms that are completed on a typewriter. These do not generate a unique barcode, making the form unable to be scanned.
NOTE: To assist you in submitting a fully completed form, you can save a partially filled-in form to your desk top and go back in to add missing information or make any corrections and print it, or even email it to the closing location for completion before printing.
The information in the barcode that populates the fields in the SaleScan system when the RP-5217 is scanned
MUST CORRESPOND WITH THE INFORMATION ON THE FORM ITSELF.
We fully anticipate an adjustment period in the beginning, but with your diligence and assistance we will work together on making this as smooth a transition as possible.

TO RESIDENTS: Rockland County Clerk
Paul Piperato advises property owners to beware of a
deed copy scam. The County Clerk's office has received
calls from concerned property owners about communications
that they've received from "New York Retrieval,
Inc" offering to secure a certified copy of the
deed to their property for a fee of nearly $60.00. This
is about 10 times what it would cost to obtain a certified
copy directly from the Clerk's office, and non-certified
images can be viewed for free online.
